Heaton was one of the first clubs in Yorkshire to play squash, in the 1920’s we built the first squash courts in Bradford. Here at Heaton we pride ourselves on our sporting successes and our welcoming environment.
We have won the men’s Yorkshire squash league (one of the countries premier leagues) on numerous occasions and also won the Bradford Metro league and Kirklees league.
Nowadays at Heaton racketball is also proving very popular with the members and we won the National racketball championship in 2003. Racketball has extended many squash players playing career as it is not as physically demanding on your joints as squash whilst you still get the aerobic benefit with games often lasting over an hour, an extremely good work out. With both a thriving competitive and social programme we invite you to come and have a go at either squash or racketball. For a complementary game contact Mike the club manager at 01274 541508.
Teams
The club is well represented in some very competitive leagues including Yorkshire league, Bradford Metro, Leeds Metro and Kirklees & Calderdale Leagues.

Leeds Metro Squash and Bradford Metro Squash - Fixtures, Results and Rankings
Kirklees Squash and Racketball Leagues
Any members interested in playing team squash should speak to Simon Park, the club coach on 07773 313952.
Mini Leagues
The mini leagues are the mainstay of squash played at Heaton. Box leagues are run on a calendar month basis through the Winter and we have team squash throughout the summer. Summer squash is a team event of differing standards (catering for everyone) usually concluding with a round (or 2) of drinks in the bar.
The leagues provide the opportunity for all squash playing members to play regularly against members of similar ability. The monthly promotion / relegation system is a great incentive for players to get their matches in and maintain their level of play.

Mini Squash
Mini squash is the England squash approved game for children aged 5 to 11 years and offers an ideal introduction to the game. This exciting game fits the needs of younger children and is played using specialised equipment designed to help children achieve maximum success. Research indicates that children under 10 are most receptive to learning physical skills such as running, jumping, balance co-ordination, throwing and catching. All these skills are fundamental to the athletic development in children and form the basis of the mini squash programme.
