Heaton was one of the first clubs in Yorkshire to play squash, in the 1920’s we built the first squash courts in Bradford. Here at Heaton we pride ourselves on our sporting successes and our welcoming environment.
We have won the men’s Yorkshire squash league (one of the countries premier leagues) on numerous occasions and also won the Bradford Metro league and Kirklees league.
Nowadays at Heaton racketball is also proving very popular with the members and we won the National racketball championship in 2003. Racketball has extended many squash players playing career as it is not as physically demanding on your joints as squash whilst you still get the aerobic benefit with games often lasting over an hour, an extremely good work out. With both a thriving competitive and social programme we invite you to come and have a go at either squash or racketball. For a complementary game contact Mike the club manager at 01274 541508.

Mini Leagues
The mini leagues are the mainstay of squash played at Heaton. Box leagues are run on a calendar month basis through the Winter and we have team squash throughout the summer. Summer squash is a team event of differing standards (catering for everyone) usually concluding with a round (or 2) of drinks in the bar.
The leagues provide the opportunity for all squash playing members to play regularly against members of similar ability. The monthly promotion / relegation system is a great incentive for players to get their matches in and maintain their level of play.
Mini Squash
Mini Squash is an exciting game that encourages children aged 5 to 10 to get on court and have fun. Using specialised equipment designed to help children learn the basic skills as well as develop coordination and balance, Mini Squash provides the ideal introduction to squash.
At Heaton we incorporate fun games with squash skills to introduce your child to the game. Juniors receive a free booklet that will be stamped as they improve through the levels.
Junior Traning
At Heaton we have various junior sessions running, from beginner levels all the way up to county training. At the club we provide a clear player pathway that will help your child achieve their maximum potential in the sport. There are also opportunities to play regular matches against other clubs and to play in tournaments all over the North East of England. During half/end of term holidays the club runs squash camps with professional players attending to give guidance and advice to the juniors.
Racketball
Racketball is one of the UK's fastest growing sports! It is played on any regular squash court and is similar to squash! The sport is slightly slower than squash and easier to pick up. Racketball is ideal if you're not as confident or are a little older and reaction speeds aren't what they used to be, it is excellent for cardio workout and a great social game. Heaton offers group racketball coaching along with ladies racketball sessions and 'one on one' coaching.
