The club benefits from a coaching team of 4 tennis coaches including a nationally recognised Head Performance Coach and a squash coach ranked no. 6 in the U.K, providing high quality coaching tailored to meet individual needs. The professionalism and approach of the coaching team has resulted in the club being awarded the County Accredited Status.
Matthew McTurk - Head Tennis Coach
Qualifications: PCA, USPTR Pro, RPT National Pro
Matt played at county junior level, and then received his first cap for Yorkshire Senior team in 1991. Later that year Matt travelled to the U.S.A, attending Brunswick Junior College (ranked number 2 college in the Nation) on a tennis Scholarship. In 1994 Matt returned to the UK where he played professionally on the British Tour and satellite circuit. Matt also played German League tennis and spent several months in Australia coaching and playing on the satellite circuit. Matt regularly attends coach education seminars and workshops to improve his coaching knowledge. Matt is currently coaching two of the best juniors in the country, and is also the 2006 Yorkshire Men’s doubles champion.

Gul Rashid - Tennis Coach
Qualifications: USPTR Associate Member, DCA Coach
Gul has been a playing member at Heaton TC for over 10 years. He has represented Heaton at all local club leagues including Yorkshire League. Gul has also represented his employer HMRC regionally, nationally at the West Hants Club, Bournemouth and has participated in Civil Service Tournaments in Chiswick West London.
Gul started playing tennis 10 years ago, teaching himself initially and then having individual and group lessons to improve his game. He has always had the drive to be involved in the "Future" of British tennis and got involved in tennis coaching in 2006 initially completing his Tennis Assistants Award in Boston, Lincs and then shortly afterwards he obtained US Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) associate member certificate in Warrington. Gul is now a DCA coach.
He has a very enthusiastic and innovative approach towards coaching and has good organisational skills.
Laura Bowden – Tennis Coach
Qualifications: LTA Tennis Coach at award levels 1, 2 and 3
Laura played at county level for Cheshire until she left for University. For 6 years to 2012 Laura represented a ladies division 1 Cheshire team where they became division 1 champions.
Before coming to Heaton Laura worked for David Lloyd Cheadle where she coached professionally for 4 years.
Since working at Heaton Tennis and Squash Club, Laura has represented Heaton at club level including playing in the ladies Yorkshire league.
Laura started playing tennis whilst at school aged 7 where her great love and passion for the game was spotted and developed leading her to her chosen career as a qualified coach. Laura works with all levels and abilities from tots through to adults and really enjoys seeing her clients gain confidence and improve their game.
